Prayer Directives From the Word

1. Pray for the harvest.

Matthew 9:38 (NIV) Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

Luke 10:2 (Amplified Bible) And He said to them, The harvest indeed is abundant [there is much ripe grain], but the farmhands are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

2. Pray for National and local leaders of government.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (The Message) The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.

3. Pray for the church, that God will make it a praise in the earth.

Isaiah 62:7 (Amplified Bible) And give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise in the earth.

4. Pray that God will open doors for ministry of the Word.

Colossians 4:3 (Contemporary English Version) Be sure to pray that God will make a way for us to spread his message and explain the
mystery about Christ, even though I am in jail for doing this.

5. Pray for those who have mistreated you.

Luke 6:28 (Amplified Bible) Invoke blessings upon and pray for the happiness of those who curse you, implore God's blessing (favor) upon
those who abuse you [who revile, reproach, disparage, and high-handedly misuse you].

6. Pray that you enter not into temptation.

Luke 22:40 (King James Version) And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

7. Pray that you may do no evil.

2 Corinthians 13:7 (New International Version) Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong. Not that people will see that we have stood the test but that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed.

8. Pray that your love may abound toward all people.

Philippians 1:9 (Amplified Bible) And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight [that your love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment],

9. Pray that your whole spirit, mind and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (New American Standard Bible) Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

10. Pray for the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 11:13 (New King James Version) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

11. Pray that you may be able to interpret what you speak in tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:13 (Amplified Bible) Therefore, the person who speaks in an [unknown] tongue should pray [for the power] to interpret and explain what he says.

12. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Psalm 122:6 (New Living Translation) Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper.

13. Pray that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life.

1 Timothy 2:2 (New King James Version) for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

14. Pray to have the desires that God wants you to have.

Psalm 37:4 (Amplified Bible) Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

Mark 11:24 (New International Version) Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

“These things are the will of God for you.”

I found this today while I was going through some old ministry materials and thought it would be a good time to share it.
